Ghost Housing
When you visit Thailand , you can see many houses that look almost like miniature dollhouses. But they are not for kids to play. They are built for ghosts. Many Thais still believe in ghosts, which dates back to the animistic beliefs that were present in Thailand, long before the arrival of Buddhism or other religions.
They believe that every place Local has its ghosts, and when human beings live there, have to build a house for the ghosts who live there too, so that they will not be trouble and interfere with the family business. They also offered little like soft drinks, a glass of water, flowers, sweets, snacks and cigarettes to the ghosts to make them happy.
Twice as large in London
L ' Thailand's former capital, Ayutthaya, was almost two times larger than London in the 17th century, and in fact, was one of the most spectacular in the world at that time. While London had about 500,000 inhabitants, Ayutthaya reached 1,000,000. The kingdom of Ayutthaya amazed artisans from around the world, and the reports of the first European visitors still tell the story of a town with a little 'many temples and a lot of gold, was, according to them, a city that no one would believe exists, if you do not see with your own eyes.
However, in 1767 the city was almost completely destroyed, all the gold and other valuables was stolen, scriptures burned by Burmese warriors who besieged the kingdom. Today, Ayutthaya is a small town about an hour north of Bangkok , with about 54,000 people who live there.
Thailand is a different country and religiously tolerant
About 95% of the population is Theravada Buddhist practitioner. However, when you visit Thailand, you will also see a lot of religious influences from India and China. Brahmanistic statues, Hindu and Taoist and shrines can be seen in many sites with images of Buddha and Buddhist symbols. This is mainly due to historical reasons, because so many different people from different regions, many settled in what is now known as Thailand.
The current king of the dynasty are also known as Rama. There were nine kings in this dynasty, and the current name is Rama IX. Rama is the name of a reincarnation of the Hindu god Vishnu, and this tradition goes back to the belief that kings were in fact human incarnations of Vishnu.
