On August 4, 2009, China's Supreme People's Court issued a new regulation to encourage the parties to the conflict to consider arbitration as an alternative method of dispute resolution. The regulation is in response to a rapid increase in lawsuits over the past two years. Just in the last year, the Chamber of Commerce (ICC) opened a branch office of the Secretariat in Hong Kong , where he instituted the International Court of Arbitration. Years ago I spent a year living in Bangkok as an English teacher (I will be writing a blog on this separately at some point in the near future, check my blog for updates). My trip involved taking two buses.

The Bangkok bus system is quite disconcerting for all newcomers, most of the buses still display only the destinations, mostly in Thailand. There are no timetables at bus stops to take a bus can be pot luck, you really need to know which bus to take in advance. Rates vary depending on whether you catch the small buses, buses not standard air conditioning, air-conditioned buses, minivans, songthaews (pick-up truck with two benches in the back). The drivers and conductors do not speak English, which is only a problem on the bus with air conditioning where the price changes depending on how you travel ...... you get the picture!

Once you're on the bus trips can be "interesting" to say the least, depending on many variables:

- The driver, many fantasy as the next Michael Schumacher and think nothing of cutting 4 lanes of traffic, or push their old rickety bus to its limits. Many of them are perfectly good drivers, so you never know!
- The type of bus that end. Each route usually has at least two different types of buses operating on it. However, it is very difficult to describe the signs for people who do not speak in a language and in a city who do not know! So I agreed to take them directly there. Now, the Chinese Embassy is along the new route on the underground, but this was in the days before the subway was opened. So we had to get off the bus and Skytrain to Asok station and then a taxi (because I did not know which bus to catch!).

Chinatown in Bangkok was started when King Rama I decided to
1782 to establish the new capital of Bangkok on the eastern shore

Few things require us to use that "creative" muscles as well as storage. You need to be creative with what you find in the shooting. You need creativity in virtually every aspect of the warehouse. The creativity in the way of organizing access to a difficult topic, creativity in the way of shooting without the financial resources of a client ... and creative decisions to be taken on where and how to position the work.

As I write this I have a list of a hundred pictures I want to create for the stock. Sometimes it takes me two years for my subconscious to finally understand how to run something under budget constraints and access I have. This leads to another point of great stock. There are no arbitrary deadlines ... Only those that are set for me.

An example of an idea that took time for me to address the budgetary constraints ... and the need to exercise creativity and how to get the shots, can be found in a series of photos I took with the elephants as the subject. At first I had the idea because I wanted to be close to an elephant ... to be able to touch one, and just hanging out with him for a while '. So I came up with a pair of "elephant" ideas. When I discovered it would cost me only $ 5,000.00 to rent an elephant, I put the project in the drawer. A year ago I planned a trip to South East Asia. Cool!

For me, stock is the highest form of commercial work. It requires discipline, creativity and courage (hey. .. you can take real courage to spend large sums of money on a speculative shot). But as they say on late night television infomercials, wait ... there's more!

There is friendship and fun. For me, it's a lot more fun shooting warehouse where there is no pressure "external" to run and no one but myself to answer too. In addition, a number of my shots I have invited other photographers to join me. For the disco footage that I shot with three other photographers. We all shared the cost and have worked together ... but each makes our series of images. One way of "creative" to reduce the cost of our fire, to spread the production time and out of work ... and go to work with some close friends. As we walked in the narrow soi, we went and ordered neat rows of houses with very warm and friendly residents. Along the way, we met a man who invited us into that his house had several coils of wire frames and Thai silk. This is the home and silk factory Khun Manuthat Niphon, a silk weaver himself.

The warm and hospitable Khun Niphon was more than willing to share with us the story of his community and experience with Jim Thompson. Here is the story of Khun Niphon.

The community is made up of Muslim Chams BanKrua province of Kampong Cham in Cambodia. The Chams are from the ancient kingdom of Champa in Vietnam. The kingdom was conquered by Vietnam in 15 C and ceased to exist by 17 Chams C. Many missing in Laos and Cambodia. Later, some of them migrated to Thailand .
